MORGENTHALER, RICHARD A. - Richard A. Morgenthaler, age 73, of Patterson, NY, formerly of Queens, NY, died Sunday, October 26, 2008 at his home. Mr. Morgenthaler was born in Brooklyn, NY on April 6, 1935 to John and Mary (Hirko) Morgenthaler. He graduated from Franklin K. Lane High School in Brooklyn and served in both the Marine Reserves and Army. On April 28, 1957 he married Dolores Brady at St. Aloysius Church in Brooklyn, NY. Mr. Morgenthaler was a New York City Fireman and later a Fire Marshall in both Brooklyn and the Bronx for 37 years, retiring in 1997. A resident of Patterson since 1973, Mr. Morgenthaler had built his own home which includes many pieces of stained glass which was a pastime he enjoyed. He was also an avid Mets fan. Besides his wife Dolores of 51 years, Mr. Morgenthaler is survived by a daughter, Diane Morgenthaler MD of East Lyme, CT, three sons, Daniel and Richard C. Morgenthaler, both of Patterson, NY and Darren Morgenthaler of Brewster, NY. Also five grandchildren, Dana, Daniel, Tyler, Nicholas and Richard. He was pre-deceased by a sister, Carol Giardino in 2007. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 30, 2008 10AM at Sacred Heart Church, Putnam Lake, NY. Interment following at St. Lawrence O'Toole Cemetery, Brewster. Friends may call at the Beecher Funeral Home, 1 Putnam Avenue, Brewster, NY on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4-8PM. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mr. Morgenthaler's name may be made to Hospice Care in Westchester and Putnam Inc., Development Department, 540 White Plains Rd., Ste 300, Tarrytown, NY 10591-9908.
