Man in Need of Kidney & Pancreas Transplant
Fundraiser Planned
(CLEVELAND, OH – July 18, 2011) Tom Mayer, 26-year resident of Cleveland, Ohio, is in need of a kidney and pancreas transplant. Tom, age 52, was diagnosed at the age of 15 with Type 1 insulin-dependent diabetes and has managed the disease, in fact he has “beat the odds” for nearly four decades, according to his Cleveland Clinic physicians. Tom is currently suffering from end-stage renal disease. Although he has lost over 80% of his kidney function, Tom remains active working, playing golf and engaging in fitness regimens, while strictly managing his diet, to combat the effects of the disease.
On Friday, August 26, from 7:00 pm to midnight, there is a fundraiser dinner and auction planned at the Acker Moore Banquet Hall at 3733 Fishcreek Road in Stow, Ohio. Seating is limited. Tickets are $25 per person. The event features a cash bar, auction and 50/50 raffle. Music will be provided by Mystery Tramps. Proceeds from the event will be used to offset the crushing transplant-related expenses not covered by insurance that will be ongoing after the transplant. For tickets, please call Jan at 440-942-3730.
Tom’s fundraiser is being conducted with assistance from the National Transplant Assistance Fund (“NTAF”), a non-profit organization established 28 years ago to provide assistance to transplant patients and their families.
Credit card donations for Tom’s behalf are welcomed by contacting NTAF at 1-800-642-8399 or by visiting the NTAF website at www.ntafund.org. All contributions are tax deductible and are strictly administered by NTAF for transplant-related expenses only. Donations by checks can be made to:
