Ken Harrell was born in Amarillo, Texas and raised in and around Tulsa, Oklahoma. Ken's love of music was apparent at an early age singing in choirs and writing songs. After attending college at Northeastern Oklahoma College on a full music scholarship... Ken began singing in bands and honing his song writing skills. He eventually landing a staff writer position with world renowned EMI Music Publishing. After several years at EMI... Ken
then landed a staff writing position at the legendary Nashville Publishing house... Acuff-Rose. Several years there, garnered Ken several major label recordings with the likes of Sonya Isaacs, Brian McComas, The Kinleys. Tammy Cochran, Three of Hearts... and the song "You Restore My Soul" on the nearing platinum selling ( 1,000,000 )... Grammy nominated and Dove award winning Stacie Orrico album... "Genuine." Soon... more recordings came as Ken started his own publishing company... writing with several Grammy winning song writers including Country and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Phil Everly of The Everly Brothers, Shaye Smith, Tammy Hyler, Mark Alan Springer and rocker Duane Eddy. He is now Co - Producer and Record Label Partner with long-time writing and close friend Shaye Smith... at Lava Lamp Records with the hot new rock band "Fools For Rowan." The band has received significant national airplay... hit videos... strong sales... and their brand new video..."Dead" is soon to be released to the nationally known video music channel... FUSE. Keen Major Label interest and a national tour is also on the radar for "Fools For Rowan."
With an honest love of all types of music, Ken generally leans towards a positive message with his songs and tries to use some of his own life experiences and battles to relate to the world in song. Ken is the father of six... yes six... beautiful daughters... and the Grandfather of three wonderful grandchildren. Recently, Ken's personal greatest achievement was to become the Music Director for the non-profit organization... Michelle's Angel's Foundation. Penning the title song... "Michelle's Angels," among other MAF songs, Ken laments that his involvement in this wonderful, uplifting and vital organization... has and always will be the highlight of his musical journey.
